Superman, otherwise known as Clark Kent, or his actual name, Kal-El, is a character from DC comics. He is a superpowered humanoid alien from the Planet Krypton. On the brink of its destruction, Kal-El was put into a rocket by his scientist father, Jor-El, and was sent to Earth to be spared from the planet's explosion. On Earth, he was adopted by a couple of farmers, Jonathan and Martha Kent and was rechristened "Clark" (named after Martha's maiden name). As a young boy growing up in Smallville, Kansas, Clark would learn of his powers and his heritage. As an adult, he moved to Metropolis where he worked at the newspaper press, The Daily Planet with his then love interest, Lois Lane and best friend, Jimmy Olsen. As Superman, Clark would use his powers to protect Earth and battle various threats, most notably Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Mr. Mxyzptlk among others. Superman is known for teaming up with superheroes like Batman. Along with the Dark Knight and Wonder Woman, and a few other DC superheroes, Superman became a co-founder of team of super powered defense force, The Justice League of America.
